The Start Lap and End Lap roster preferences are used to determine number of minutes an employee must be available before or after a working record before they can be considered for a callout, or the number of minutes a callout can overlap an employee's shift or other working record before they can be considered for the callout.
-
The EndLap preference allows the number of minutes a callout can overlap the end of another working record, or the number of minutes an employee must be available after a working record before he can be considered for a callout.
-
The StLap preference allows the number of minutes a callout can overlap the beginning of another working record, or the number of minutes an employee must be available before a working record before he can be considered for a callout.
Example 1: The StLap for a roster is set to -60 (Meaning the employee has to be available 60 minutes before his next working record.) and John has a shift scheduled for 0700-1600 on Monday. On Monday morning, a callout is made for John's list fro 0400-0800, because this callout overlaps John's shift by 1 hour he will not be considered for the callout. However if the callout end time was set to 0600 he would be considered for the callout.
Example 2: The StLap for a roster is set to 60 (Meaning a callout can overlap the beginning of an employee's record for 60 minutes.) and Paul has a shift scheduled for 0700-1600 on Monday. On Monday morning, a callout is made for Paul's list fro 0500-0900, because this callout overlaps Paul's shift by 2 hours he will not be considered for the callout. However if the callout end time was set to 0800 he would be considered for the callout.
Example 3: The EndLap for a roster is set to -60 (Meaning an employee must be available for at least 60 minutes after the end time of his previous working record before he is considered for the callout.) and Jim has a shift scheduled for 0700-1600 on Monday. On Monday afternoon, a callout is made for Jim's list fro 1630-2030, because this callout is only 30 minutes after Jim's shift he will not be considered for the callout. However if the callout start time was set to 1700 he would be considered for the callout.
Example 4: The EndLap for a roster is set to 60 (Meaning a callout can overlap the end of an employee's record for 60 minutes.) and Bob has a shift scheduled for 0700-1600 on Monday. On Monday afternoon, a callout is made for Bob's list fro 1445-1845, because this callout overlaps Bob's shift by 1 hour 15 minutes he will not be considered for the callout. However if the callout start time was set to 1500 he would be considered for the callout.
Note: Use a positive value is for the allowed number of minutes for overlap. Use a negative value to equal the number of minutes an employees has to be available before they will be considered for a callout.
Note: The callout type must allow Start/End Lap in order for the roster preferences to work correctly.
