Once you have entered Default Bid Lines Preferences, you can use them to have RosterApps automatically sort your bid lines for you, according to the preferences you laid out. We are going to look at how our previous example would now see their bid lines displayed. If you haven't read the example page, click here.
RosterApps has a feature that enables you to enter your default bid line preferences. Once these are entered, you can utilize them to control the sorting order of the bid lines when you are bidding. In our previous user story, Justan Example created a default bid line preferences set, and has it in place for the new bid, where the bidding window has just opened today. After Justan logs in to RosterApps, he gets to his home page, where it lists in the announcements area that he has both a standard Shift Bid as well as a Vacation Bid (or Paid Time Off bid). Default bid line preferences are meant for the Shift Bid.
If Justan clicks on the "BIDDING" tab, he will see both of the two bids listed, as well as the link to his Default Bid Line Preferences.
RosterApps now shows the bid lines of the new bid package for Justan to select. However, he has not switched the 'Sort by' drop down to the value "My Default Preferences".
Once Justan selects 'My Default Preferences' as his sorting mechanism, RosterApps will sort through the whole bid, step by step, matching bid lines with each preference listing in your active Default Bid Preference Set. Matches will be listed in order, and you can tell which of your preferences are matching up with bid lines by looking at the 'Default Preference' column. RosterApps will show you the number of the preference line that a given bid line matches.
So a '7' in this column means that the bid line listed matches the criteria of the preference you listed in position 7 of your active Default Preference Set.
RosterApps should show you any bid lines that match your preferences, in descending order of how you listed them in your Default Bidline Preference Set. Once RosterApps runs out of matches for you, it will list the remaining bid lines in alphabetical order by the 'Label' field. If you find yourself in this situation, you can always go back to the main 'BIDDING' tab, and select your Default Preferences, and add more preference listings to your active preference set (in order to help sort the remaining bid lines). Remember RosterApps will tell you how many bid lines you must select, when you are bidding. This figure is updated with each selection you make when you are choosing your bid lines. It is located at the top of the bid lines listing table.
By adding enough preferences to your default preference set, you can order the whole bid according to how you want it, and then drastically speed up your selection process.
