Selecting the BIDDING TAB opens the Bidding Page. Bidding is the process of your company going through the different shifts that will need to be filled for an upcoming time frame. Your company creates shifts that need to be filled by workers, and Bidding is the process of all the workers providing their preferences for when they would like to work and what jobs they would prefer.
Typically, workers will be notified by their Supervisors that a bid is opening up, and are then scheduled to make their bids according to some order (such as by hire date, or by department activation date, etc.). Some companies do this in small batches of employees, other companies do this one at a time, via strict seniority. Those who bid first in the process will need to select fewer bid lines than those who bid later in the process.
If the Bidding Window is open for you to make your bid line preference selections, RosterApps will let you know on your Home Page.
If there is an open bid in progress, there will be a small blue text link at the end of the message, and clicking on it will take you to the Bidding Page. Otherwise, you can always go to the Bidding Page via the Bidding Tab. The Bidding Tab is at the top of every RosterApps page once you are logged in. See Figure 008000:
Most of the time the bidding page will not show any bids going on. This is because typically, companies create bids with schedules to run for a few months (or more) at a time. The actual bidding process is typically open for a relatively small amount of time. Depending upon your company and the type of bidding process used, the open time for bidding might be 15 minutes or as long as a few days.
