Once a Default Bid Preference Set is created, the next stop is to add preferences.
(This is a follow up to Default Bid Preferences, read that section covered here prior.)
After clicking the "Add Preferences" button, a pop-up window opens containing the three different types of preferences that you can enter.
Start Time Range preference:
This selection refers to shifts that have a starting time within the time range you are going to select. Only those bid lines where all of the start times fall within the range you specify. If even one shift in a given bid line starts outside of this window, then it will not be listed in the order you wanted. First off, click the drop-down menu and select the "Select Range" option.
Select the time for the start of your time range, and then the end time for the time range. If a shift has a start time that matches either the beginning time of your range, or the end time, it will be included.
Days Off preference:
The next type of preference you can enter is the "Days Off" preference. This will list those bid lines which have the days off you specify. Check those boxes for the days you want off. In order for a matching bid line to be listed, it will need to have all of the days off you check.
Skills preference:
The last type of preference you can enter is the "Skills" preference. This will list those bid lines which have all of their shifts having at least one of the skills you select here.
So, if you want to see the shifts with either Ramp or ABR listed as the skill, you would check both of those in the skills selection.
Once you have completed the details of your preference listing, click on the "Create" button at the bottom of the window to complete the listing.
The next screen displays the preference listing you just created.
Show in the window:
-
Preference Order: This is the order in which your individual preference listings are sorted. It is a best practice (read: good idea) to have your most restrictive preference first, then the second-most restrictive, etc.
-
Start Time Range: This is the time range you specified for the starting time of all the shifts in a given bid line. If you specify 0800 to 1000, then *all* of the shifts in the bid line must have start times that fall within that time frame.
-
Days Off: This is the setting for which days off you specified a given bid line must have. If you specify Saturday and Sunday off, you will be shown those bid lines that have *both* those two days off.
-
Skills: This is the selection for which skills a given bid line must have. If you specify 'ramp' and 'baggage' then you will be shown only those bid lines where every shift in the bid line has *either* 'ramp' or 'baggage' listed as the skill.
There are also a few buttons to the right of this information. Two arrows to move the preference up and down in order of importance within your preference set. One icon representing a pencil that you can use to edit your preferences, and a red X in a circle that you can use to delete the individual preference listing.
NOTE: If you delete one of your preference listings accidentally, click on the "Return Home" button. This will take you back to your main default bid preference listing screen, WITHOUT saving your changes (since your last save).
You will want to save your preferences, to make sure RosterApps remembers your settings. (You can always add to them later.)
Once you have saved, the save button will disappear, and then you can edit listed preferences, add new preferences, or "Return Home" which takes you back to the main default bid preferences page.
You will see your listed default preference sets listed on this page. You can have many bid preferences saved, but only one may be active at any one time.
You can set up default bid preferences to customize the order in which the entire bid package is displayed to you. Many different preference listings can work together as a preference set. Click here for an example of how you can set this up.
