RosterApps has the ability for companies to utilize Voluntary Time Off, or VTO. This is for a situation where the management at a given location finds themselves to be overstaffed, or to have too many people in a given work area for the expected work load. In these situations, some companies allow for workers who would prefer to not be working, to claim a VTO Slot, and be able to take that time off, without pay or consequence.
A VTO Slot has a start time, and an end time, and the Supervisor who creates it can allow for multiple slots with the same details. There are a few different settings that the VTO Slot creator can establish, such as van the VTO count at the beginning of a shift, or the end of a shift, must the slot be claimed in the entirety, or can a partial shift be claimed, etc.
If you cannot claim a VTO Slot, there may be one of a few different reasons for that:
-
Your company does not utilize VTO slots, or your Location does not utilize VTO slots. If this is the case, you won't see any VTO slots reflected on the VTO Slot calendar view (under the VTO Slots tab in the navigational bar).
-
If you click on an available VTO Slot, the following page will either allow you to claim a VTO slot, or RosterApps will list the Conflict Reason. For example, 'There are no matching shifts for this VTO slot' would mean that you don't have any matching shifts for the VTO Slot in question.
-
If you have a Shift that would allow you to take a VTO Slot, but the VTO Slot is not set to allow for your Shift situation. For example, if a Supervisor creates a VTO slot that allows for use at the beginning of a shift, and your Shift would need for the VTO Slot to be used at the end of your Shift, or vice versa.
-
If you have a Shift that would allow you to take a VTO Slot, but not the entirety of the VTO Slot, you may not be able to claim the VTO Slot. This is another setting that a Supervisor may use, that allows RosterApps to permit the claim of a VTO Slot in a partial manner, as opposed to necessarily claiming the whole VTO Slot.
