RosterApps enables you to schedule personal time or events on your work schedule. You can choose to show your co-workers your message for a time you have blocked-off, and you can prevent your co-workers from making trade requests for time slots that conflict with your personal time.
Supervisors will still be able to assign you a Shift that conflicts with your Personal Time block, however.
Note: Not all RosterApps users will have access to this feature. If it is available to you and your organization, you will be able to use it as described here.
From the "My Calendar" Tab, navigate to the day you want to schedule your personal time block. You can schedule a Personal Event or Time block on a day without a Shift. Just navigate to the day in question, and click on the day in the calendar, inside the graphical boundary of the day.
You can also schedule a block of Personal Time on a day when you have a Shift. On those types of days, just be sure to click on the day you want, *but outside* of the Shift you have. If you click inside the Shift boundaries, you will see the familiar menu of actions that you can take with that Shift.
Once you have done that, the Schedule "Personal Time" page opens requiring details about the request.
The first option is to schedule a block of Personal Time for the entire day. RosterApps will create a block of time (like a Shift), that will represent your Personal Time, which will cover the whole day 00:00 to 23:59:59.
The second option on the details page is to schedule your Personal Time for multiple days. When you select this option (click on the radio button), RosterApps will pop-up a calendar selector (similar to the others found throughout RosterApps), and you should select the beginning date of the Personal Time block, and the ending date.
The third option for selecting the type of Personal Time that you want to put on your calendar is to schedule a block of time. When you select this radio button option, RosterApps will prompt you to select a start and a stop time for your block.
Once you have entered your selection for which type of Personal Time you want to put on your Calendar, you have the option of entering some text for the block. The first few characters will appear on your Calendar (inside the graphical space for the Shift), and the rest of the text would be available when viewing greater detail about the Personal Time Block. You can enter that information in the text entry box.
The next two checkboxes are very important. The first box, if checked, allows your co-workers who view your schedule to see the text you entered about your Personal Time (either the label or the description). If you want the people you work with to be able to see the message you have on your Personal Time, then make sure this box is checked.
Note: Leave this unchecked if you want your text message to remain private.
The second checkbox is for automatically blocking others from requesting trades with you that would overlap your Personal Time, and/or for preventing you from claiming a Trade Board Shift that overlaps with your Personal Time block.
Make certain that this box is checked if you want to prevent yourself and others from a scheduling conflict with your Personal Time block.
Note: Your Supervisor will still be able to assign you Shifts that overlap with your Personal Time blocks.
When you have completed entering your information about your Personal Time block, click the "Schedule Personal Time" button to submit the request.
After you have entered your Personal Time block, and saved your entry, you can see the block represented on your Calendar. Click on the "My Calendar" tab towards the top of your RosterApps screen, and you will see your block of time clearly listed.
Once again, your Supervisor will still be able to assign you a Shift even if you have a block of Personal Time that would overlap with that Shift.
