New employees require field time to develop their skills and gain the experiences needed to become fully qualified employees. This added functionality allows new employees to be offered callout work to gain that needed field-time, while still ensuring that enough qualified field personnel are on-hand to solve a problem situation.
When the New Employee? checkbox, located on the Employee screen, is selected, ARCOS will consider the employee "Inexperienced" with regard to how it applies certain callout rules for that employee. With the Inexperienced designation, there is a callout attribute checkbox on the Callout Edit screen, labeled New Emp Limit, that is checked by default for Normal, Fill Shift, Planned Overtime, Volunteer, and Major Event callout types. These employees are noted as such in the Manual Bypass Section with the word "Inexperienced" below their name, but does NOT make them unavailable for callout. When a callout is submitted with the New Emp Limit attribute enabled, ARCOS limits the number of "Inexperienced" employees that may accept the callout to 1 employee across the entire callout. When this logic is active, ARCOS will not call more than 1 "Inexperienced" employee at time, regardless of the number requested for the callout.
It is permissible for an "Inexperienced" employee to accept/fill a callout that is requesting only 1 position. If this situation arises, the Message portion of the Manual Status (Acknowledge) pop-up for the callout will indicate that this has occurred with the following text: "1 out of 1 positions filled (Inexperienced)."
This rule can be overridden on individual callouts by unchecking the checkbox on the Callout Edit screen. If the operator unchecks the attribute and clicks Save on the Callout Edit screen while a callout is running, ARCOS removes the limit on "Inexperienced" employee accepts.
If the rule is active on a currently running callout and ARCOS encounters an "Inexperienced" employee that cannot be called at that time due to limit constraints, the employee is skipped and shown in the Not Attempted section of the Callout Detail Report with a Reason of "Inexperienced."
If the callout type is Out of Town, ARCOS will skip all "Inexperienced" employees, not allowing any new employees to accept. This attribute is always active for Out of Town callouts and cannot be overridden, so no checkbox exists on the Callout Edit screen when the selected callout type is Out of Town. Again, skipped employees show in the Not Attempted section of the Callout Detail Report with a Reason of "Inexperienced."
