Group Paging is a feature that sends a page to every employee on a roster that has a pager listed as a device in his employee profile. Once the page is sent, after a predetermined delay, ARCOS calls the roster using the call parameters normally associated with the roster. Most customers use a delay of 10 minutes.
Group Paging is set up by creating an employee account that has a device that uses the Group Pager type. This employee account can be named "Group Pager." When a group page is to be sent, the ARCOS user adds the Group Pager employee to the top of the roster. If necessary, a Sort Pref of 1 can be used to insure that the account is considered first for callouts.
Once the callout is complete, the user must remember to remove the Group Paper employee from the roster so it isn’t accidentally used on the next callout.
Most customers use the Inbound toll-free number as the message sent to the pagers. The employees then call in to respond to the callout. This can be changed, however, to suit each customer’s needs, such as a code letting the employee know that a call is pending. This code is hard-coded into the system and cannot be changed. If the customer does not want the employee to call in to accept before getting the "official" callout, a modification to the system must be made.
