A Crew in ARCOS is a predefined collection of employees from multiple job classifications and workgroups. Each job classification or workgroup may require multiple positions. The number of crews requested is multiplied by the number of employees from each roster making up the crew that is required. If Crew is enabled in your instance of ARCOS, you have a button titled Crew Admin within the Callout page of the Sys Admin module and a button titled Crew Request on your Create Callout page.
Crews are defined in the Sys Admin area of ARCOS and implemented by selecting the Crew Request button under the Callout Definition screen. The Crew Request Picker table then displays, taking the place of the Roster Picker table.
The benefit to using crews is to make it easier on the employee who initiates callouts in ARCOS. For example, a Ground Crew may consist of one foreman, two linemen, and one ground worker. In this example, it would reduce possible mistakes and save time if a supervisor contacts the dispatcher and requests two Ground Crews to be sent to location XYZ for a callout. The dispatcher selects Ground Crews from the Crew Request picker on the Create Callout screen and enters a quantity of two. When the dispatcher submits the callout, ARCOS knows you need a total of two foremen, four linemen, and two ground workers to satisfy the callout.
