This is an optional feature and not all companies use it. This allows employees to make themselves unavailable, specifically for vacation, by calling the ARCOS inbound VRU. The Inbound Activity Report is also modified to show a detail link called "Enter Vacation" which includes the employee name, location, time the entry was made, and the start and end dates and times of the vacation. For companies who use this feature, once you select 1 to change your availability, you will be given the option to select 5 to make yourself unavailable.
To Place Yourself on Vacation Status
-
Press 1 to Change Availability Status.
-
Press 5 to Make Yourself Unavailable.
-
Enter the start date as month, day, and year, using two digits for each, followed by the pound (#) key. For example, enter January 1, 2008 as 010108#.
-
Enter the start time, in military format, followed by the pound (#) key. For example, enter 7 a.m. as 0700#.
-
Enter the end date as month, day, and year, using two digits for each, followed by the pound (#) key.
-
Enter the end time, in military format, followed by the pound (#) key. Upon successful completion of Steps 3 through 6, ARCOS repeats the information back to you. For example, "You have made yourself unavailable starting on Monday, January 7, 2008 at 7 a.m. and ending on Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at 5 p.m."
-
Select one of the following options:
-
Press 1 if the information repeated to you is correct. ARCOS says, "Your Unavailable entry has been saved."
-
Press 2 to re-enter the information. ARCOS returns you to the beginning of the Make Unavailable script and begins prompting you again for dates and times (Steps 3 through 6).
-
Press the star key (*) to cancel your entries. ARCOS returns you to the main menu.
-
Note: The Unavailable start/end dates and times you entered via the ARCOS inbound VRU are reflected in a Vacation type Schedule Exception schedule record in ARCOS. The Vacation schedule will overlap/mask any already existing schedule exceptions or working records in the same period. The start/end dates and times will only be validated for proper date and time form.
