In order to create a custom message via Wave to Web, the user's PC must have a microphone, a sound card, and a PC capable of accepting a Java applet download from the Internet. If a properly formatted .wav or .ulaw file already exists on the PC, it can be uploaded into ARCOS using the Wave to Web functionality.
To Record a Mass Call Custom Message via Wave to Web

Click the MassCall Msgs button on the SIREN Mass Call tab. All SIREN Mass Call custom messages display.

Click the Record New Message button, at the top of the page. The Message Detail page displays.
Note: You may receive a security pop-up for the custom message applet. Check the Always trust content from this publisher checkbox and click run. This will allow the applet to run automatically whenever you access the Message Detail page.

Type a description of the new message in the Description Field.
Note: Only the first 50 characters of the Custom Message displays in the Custom Msg dropdown field on the Create Callout page. If the message description exceeds 50 characters, it will be shortened to 50 characters followed by an ellipsis (...) and will have a mouse over so you can hover your mouse pointer on the message to see the full description. Be aware that the mouse over only works if you are using Internet Explorer (IE) 7.0 or higher.

Click the Record button, - OR -
Click the Browse button to locate the appropriate .wav file to upload. Skip to step 9.

Speak the message into the input device.

Click the Stop button when finished. The maximum recording time is 90 seconds. The recording console automatically stops at that point.

Click the Play button to listen to the Custom message.

Repeat steps 4 through 6, to re-record the message.

Click the Upload button when satisfied with the message. ARCOS confirms the Custom Message has been uploaded with the red text that appears at the top of the screen. Read the red text carefully each time. It also indicates any errors that may occur during the upload.

Click the Save Info button.
Note: The Purge checkbox is checked by default when creating a Mass Call Custom Message. If left checked, the message will automatically be deleted from the system after the number of hours specified from the last time the message was used. The message will not be removed if a mass call event using the message is currently open.
