While working you receive a task where you need to access two different locations in ARCOS at the same time. If you are limited to one browser then you will have to move back and forth between locations constantly, making this task take noticeably longer than you would like. Can’t this be avoided?
Solution
This can be avoided, even if you are limited to a single internet browser. You will need to use a private browsing window.
This feature can be accessed in most browsers via a key combination. In Chrome and Firefox this combination is Ctrl+Shift+N and in Internet Explorer this combination is Ctrl+Shift+P.
Using this feature will allow you to create a new session that can view a second location without resetting your current session’s location.
Some limitations to this feature are that saved passwords may not be transferred to this window (SSO login may or may not work). Closed tabs are not able to be reopened, and these sessions’ histories are not maintained.
Using your normal browser window and private browsing window together like this would allow you to easily compare information in ARCOS, providing a smoother experience within the ARCOS application.
This combination will also allow you to simultaneously use multiple perspectives in Crew Manager at the same time. This would make switching between perspectives during a storm much easier to manager. Below you can see an example of private browsing being used.
Note: Your company may not allow private browsing to be used. You may want to see if your company permits the use of private browsing.
