Custom messages can play a very important role during a callout. They can be used to inform the employees of the location of the trouble and any details that may affect how the accepting employee will respond to the trouble site to maintain safety. However, the details in the message will not help the employee if the recording is too quiet or has background noise or static.
Solution
If you check the quality of your custom message before creating the callout and notice you have to turn the volume up nearly all the way to hear the message, odds are the employee receiving the call is going to have difficulties hearing the message too. To prevent your custom messages from being too quiet, follow the steps below to boost the volume of your recordings:
Windows 7
- Click on the Start button on your desktop.
- Click the Control Panel link.
- Click the Hardware and Sound link.
- Click the Sound link. The Sound pop-up menu appears.
- Click on the Recording tab.
- Click on the device being used to record messages.
- Click the Properties button at the bottom of the window.
- Click the Levels tab.
- Click and drag the slider in the Microphone Boost section to increase the recording volume.
- Click the OK button and close the dialog boxes.
