Custom Messages are created in ARCOS for use in callouts and notifications. This page provides detailed information about the Message Detail screen.

Description |
Category |
The type of message the recording is for. This can be Custom Message, Safety Message, IRF Message, Trouble Location, or Classification depending on your company's settings. |
Msg ID |
This is an internal ID within ARCOS that cannot be changed. When calling the Inbound System to modify a Custom Message this is the ID the user enters. |
Description |
A description the user enters when creating the custom message. The description is what displays in the Custom Message dropdown on the Callout Create page. |
Text (for e-mail) |
This field holds the default message that is sent via e-mail when the message is used for callouts or notifications. This field only displays if your company uses e-mail devices for callouts or notifications. |
Order |
The number in this field determines the order the Custom Messages appear on the Message Admin page and in the Custom Message dropdown on the Callout Create page. By default the Order number is the same as the Msg ID |
Use in <current location> |
When checked, the Custom Message will be included in the Custom Message dropdown on the Callout Create page. If left unchecked, the Custom Message will not appear in the Custom Message dropdown on the Callout Create page (only if other messages are flagged to be used in the location). |
Purge (48 hrs) |
If checked, the Custom Message will automatically be deleted from the system after the number of hours specified from the last time the message was used. Note: A custom message will not be purge if a callout that used the message is still open. |
Filename |
The file name of the Custom Message in the ARCOS System. |
File size/Duration |
The size of the file in bytes and the duration in hh:mm:ss format. |
Last Modified By |
The name of the last user to modify the message and the date/time the file was modify. |
Recording |
Links to download the custom message in .ulaw and .wav format. |

Save Info |
Saves any changes that were made in the Message Properties table. |
Delete |
Removes the Custom Message from the system so that it can no longer be used for callouts. |
Back |
Takes the user to the previous page. |
Refresh |
Refreshes the page to display any changes that may have been made by another user. |
Create Callout |
Takes the user to the Create Callout page with the current custom message being selected. |
Create Notification |
Takes the user to the Create Notification page with the current custom message being selected. |

Status |
The status of the recording. While recording a Custom Message, the status displayed is Recording. While playing back the Custom Message, the status displayed is Playing. If nothing is currently being done with the recording, the status displayed is Stopped. |
Size (Bytes) |
The size of the Custom Message in bytes. This field updates in real time while recording a message. |
Duration (s) |
The duration of the Custom Message in seconds. This field updates in real time while recording a message. |
Controls |
The buttons used while recording and playing back the recording. |
Use Local WAV File as Source * |
Contains a Browse button that allows the user to select a .wav file from their PC to upload as a Custom Message. |
Input Device |
If the user's PC has multiple input devices (microphones), the dropdown will populate with available devices. |
Output Device |
If the user's PC has multiple output devices, the dropdown will populate with available devices. |
Your Java Version |
The Java version displayed defaults to Unknown. The user can click the Check Mine link to display the version of Java currently installed on their machine or click the Download Java link to download the most recent version of Java from www.java.com. Note: The user must have Java version 1.5 or higher to use the Wave to Web functionality. |
Your Flash Version |
The Flash version displayed defaults to the current version on your PC. The user can click the Verify Flash link to verify that the do have Flash currently installed on their machine or click the Update Flash link to download the most recent version of Flash from https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/. Note: If you are using the Chrome browser, Flash is already built-in on your browser. |
