Shift improvement bids are similar to standard shift bids, but they are for situations where you have one or more desirable open bid lines. Employees might want to move into those bid lines, and other employees may wish to move into their newly vacated bid lines, and so on. Shift improvement bids are designed to handle these situations and the cascading effect of employees switching lines.

- Find the bid package that you want to create a shift improvement for in the table of bid packages.

Below is a list of these links with descriptions:
-
Edit Details: Click this text link to edit the bid window open/close dates. You cannot edit the effective start date for the bid—if you need to change that, you’ll have to delete the shift improvement bid and create a new one. Click the update button when you finish editing details.
-
View Employee Participation: Click this text link to view employees in this bid in seniority order and see which employees have bid so far. Keep in mind that employees do not need to select any lines in a shift improvement bid if they wish to keep their current bid line, so some may not have made selections.
-
Bid Preferences: Click this link to view a report of employees’ bid preferences. You will need to select the format you want to view the report in. Keep in mind that some employees may not have submitted preferences, as they might prefer to keep the bid line they currently have.
-
Run Shift Improvement: Click this link to run the awarding process for the shift improvement bid. RosterApps displays all of the employees that have submitted preferences and gives you the option to exclude any of them from the shift improvement by checking a box. RosterApps also displays links to any schedule issues that you need to resolve before approving and generating shifts. Once you are ready, click the blue Run Improvement button to run the award process and view the results. You can run the improvement as many times as you like until you approve and generate shifts. When you are satisfied, click the Approve & Generate Shifts button. This finalizes shift assignments and adds shifts to employees’ calendars. Note that this is final, so please be sure about all bid lines and assignments before you approve and generate shifts, as this cannot be changed. You can also approve and generate shifts at a later time via the View and Approve Improvements link.
- Training Report: Click this link to view the training report for this bid. It will include the list of employees who have been assigned lines for which they don't have the requisite skills.
-
View and Approve Improvements: Click this link to view which bid lines employees have been awarded in the shift improvement bid. RosterApps displays links to any schedule issues that you need to resolve before approving and generating shifts. You can also clear all awards from this page if you want to start over by clicking the blue Clear Awards button. Once you’ve resolved any schedule issues and are satisfied with the shift improvement awards, click the Approve & Generate Shifts button. This finalizes shift assignments and adds shifts to employees’ calendars. Note that this is final, so please be sure about all bid lines and assignments before you approve and generate shifts, as this cannot be changed.
-
Delete this Shift Improvement: Click this link to delete the shift improvement bid. RosterApps asks if you are sure you want to delete the shift improvement—if you are sure, click the OK button (or click Cancel to cancel). You can delete the shift improvement until approving and generating shifts. If you have approved and generated shifts, you can no longer delete the shift improvement.
