TextPower's services are most effective when you have entered all phone numbers in your CIS (customer information system) or CRM (customer relationship manager) databases. We do all the work of determining whether a number is a mobile or not - all you have to do is upload the numbers to us. The most common questions about this process involve how to format files, what methods can be used for uploading numbers, how to tell if a number is opted in or out, etc. The process is basically simple:
- Decide which of our services you want to use - either our no-charge "Preformatted" file upload or our premium Automated List Processing (ALP) service. Either one will keep your data in sync with our system. With either method TextPower only retains the file for as long as it takes to process it and then immediately deletes it for security purposes.
- Preformatted files require you to set up your file in advance so that it has all of the phone numbers in Column 1. Any data in any other column will be treated as a "tag" and will be associated with that phone number. This will typically require some manual intervention or writing a report that you use to extract the appropriate data.
- ALP files can contain any kind of data. You tell us which columns contain phone numbers and which contain tags that you want assigned to those numbers. We map those into our system and ignore the remainder of the columns.
- Get your file ready to upload. If you're using ALP you won't have to do anythnig other than know which file to upload. If you are using the Preformatted file option you will have to format your file in the structure described in THIS FAQ.
- Upload your file using either our SFTP "drop" (totally secure) or FileUploader™ (accessible through the customer login portal. For SFTP uploads you will be given a different ID and password to use than is used to access any of our apps or to make API calls. The User ID is part of the address to which your FTP application must send the file. Every location ends with "sftp.textpower.com" - so if your FTP user ID is txpftp012345 then you would make your file upload destination address <txpftp012345@sftp.textpower.com>.
