Seniority Rank Rules are used in various places within RosterApps to provide an ordering of a group of employees. Any number of seniority rank rules can be setup that use different field values to rank employees. These rules are used in Shift Bidding, Vacation Bidding, and Shift Leveling.
Adding a New Seniority Rank Rule
To add a new seniority rank rule:
- Go to the Settings tab.
- Click on the blue link Edit Seniority Rank Rules.
- RosterApps presents the list of seniority rank rules for your company. Click on the Add New Seniority Rank Rule link to create a new rule.
- The New Seniority Rule page is displayed:
- Complete the fields on the screen as desired for the new rule being created. Below is a description of each of the fields:
- Name: Enter a name for the new seniority rank rule
- Description: Enter a description for the new seniority rank rule
- Main Seniority Rank: Select a value from the dropdown. RosterApps has a preset number of date/value fields that can be used as a rank.
- Tiebreakers: Select one or more values that should be used as a tiebreaker in case multiple employees have the same value for the main rank that was chosen above.
- Is Active: Check this box to make the new seniority rank rule available throughout RosterApps. Uncheck this box to make it inactive.
- Click the Save button to save the new seniority rank rule. Click Cancel to discard the changes and not have the new rule be created.
Editing a Seniority Rank Rule
To edit a seniority rank rule:
- Go to the Settings tab.
- Click on the blue link Edit Seniority Rank Rules.
- RosterApps presents the list of seniority rank rules for your company. Click on the Edit link next to the seniority rank rule that you wish to update.
- The Edit Seniority Rank Rule screen is displayed.
- Update the fields on the screen as desired for the selected rule. See a list of field descriptions in the Adding a New Seniority Rank Rule section above.
- Click the Save button to save changes to the selected seniority rank rule. Click Cancel to discard any changes made.
