The VolOT roster preference determines if a Primary Class list allows employees to sign up for volunteer overtime for the next roster date through the Inbound System.
Primary Class
A Primary Class is an employee's job title or skill associated with a roster. An employee can have only one primary job classification; however, he can be on rosters for other job classifications as well as other workgroups. ARCOS automatically configures rosters for each defined Job Classification.
When the VolOT roster preference is enabled in conjunction with the ExSortPref and Resequence Options, employees on these Primary Class lists can call inbound and change their volunteer overtime status for the next roster date. When an employee is puts himself on volunteer overtime status for the next list, ARCOS gives the employee a Sort Preference of 1 for the next roster only, moving them to the top of the list for that week.
Apply Sort Preferences
This topic discusses using the Sort Pref box found on the Roster List Maintenance screen. When On-Call and Off-Call employees are on the same list class NumOnCall roster preference.), Sort Pref can be used to keep the On-Call employees at the top of the list.
Some companies to not use a standard sort option but instead manually sort their list. In this situation, the Sort Pref can be used to insure that the employees will remain in their correct order.
