There some scenarios that require a lineman to be upgraded to Crew Leader for a shift, holdover, or callout. This upgrade might occur because the Crew Lead goes home while the remaining members of the crew are held over to complete a job, or it might occur when a Crew Leader is on a schedule exception, such as out Sick; a lineman-member of the crew may be upgraded to Crew Lead temporarily, for the duration of the Leader’s absence. In any case, dispatchers must be able to identify a temporary Crew Leader so that the crew displays correctly on the Dispatcher Crew Report.
